Spinal Cord Injury

Spinal Cord Injury

Sustaining a spinal cord injury can be life changing, but it doesn’t have to mean the end of a life lived independently in your own home.

We specialise in providing tailored care and support to clients with spinal injuries, helping them to lead as full and independent a life as possible, from the comfort of their own home.

What is a spinal cord injury?

Spinal cord damage can range in severity but, for the most part, results from accident, injury or disease. Affecting vital nerves running from the brain throughout the rest of the body, SCI can:

  • Reduce mobility.
  • Affect the ability to feel pressure or sensations.
  • Impact autonomic functions like breathing, blood pressure, bladder, and bowel movements

However, spinal cord damage, and symptoms will vary between individuals, even if injuries might be to the same spinal areas.

How can we help?

We have an intricate understanding of the differing care, and management required to suit each client’s individual requirements.  We work closely with our clients and their families to put support in place that is tailored to their needs and choices.

We all like to do things a little differently. That’s why we take great care to make sure each of our clients receives the kind of care that works for them. Our expert team of nurses assess every client’s clinical and social requirements to develop a bespoke, comprehensive care and lifestyle plan. We’ll then pair our personal care assistants with our clients, based on interests and personality matching, because building strong working relationships not only puts our clients at ease, it’s key to delivering an excellent, safe service.

Our personal care assistants are able to deliver specialist support for spinal injury, including: ventilator care, respiratory and gastrostomy management, naso-gastric feeding, and medication administration, with the ongoing support and supervision from our nursing team.

We’re committed to providing exceptional care through clinical excellence; our nurse-led teams ensure that we’re always upholding the highest standards of quality care for our clients, through regular monitoring, review, and training.
